Phillies introduce Andy MacPhail

MacPhail, a long-time exec with the Cubs, Orioles and Twins, was introduced today to the Phillies' front office. For the interim, MacPhail will serve as a special assistant to president Pat Gillick, who plans on retiring shortly after this season. At that point, MacPhail will succeed him.

Philadelphia introduced long-time MLB exec Andy MacPhail to the Phillies' front office today. MacPhail has served in the front offices of the Twins, Cubs and Orioles. He joins a Phillies organization in disarray after manager Ryne Sandberg just resigned in the midst of a 27-50 season.
