Jon Jay (wrist) to 15-day DL

The Cardinals outfielder, who is coming off offseason wrist surgery, has been added to the disabled list due to a left wrist stress reaction and bone bruise. Jay hit .223 in 57 games and was on the DL in May with wrist issues.

Cardinals fire scouting director

The Cardinals let go Chris Correa after an "imposed leave of absence," a lawyer for Cardinals executives said today. The lawyer for chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. and GM John Mozeliak declined to comment on the reasons for his separation. Correa had been one focus of the Astros hacking case, according to sources. OTD: Spahn, Marichal go 16 innings

On this date in 1963, the Braves' Warren Spahn and the Giants' Juan Marichal had a pitching duel for the ages, each going the distance in a 16-inning game. It was Spahn who eventually faltered, but cut him some slack -- it was none other than Willie Mays with the walk-off home run to win, 1-0.
