The Yankees made a procedural move today by placing first baseman Mark Teixeira on the DL. It is retroactive to Aug. 27 and will have no impact on when/if Teixeira returns from his bruised right shin. GM Brian Cashman said in a text the Yankees needed to put Teixeira on the DL in order to bring back reliever Nick Rumbelow. If Teixeira returns, it will be in the middle of September, at the earliest.

Kyle Schwarber out 3-5 days

The Cubs rookie will be sidelined after an MRI revealed a right rib cage strain. Schwarber initially felt the injury Wednesday and was a late scratch that night. He's hitting .270 with 13 HRs this season.
