Cole Hamels to miss Opening Day
CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels said he won't be able to make an Opening Day start for the second successive season after feeling discomfort in his pitching arm during the offseason.
Hamels said he no longer is feeling any pain or discomfort but that he is "eight to 10 days" behind the rest of the pitchers in camp. Phillies pitchers and catchers reported to camp Wednesday; they hold their first official workout Thursday.
