Nationals add Kevin Frandsen

Infielder Kevin Frandsen, who declined an outright assignment from the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, reached agreement Wednesday on a one-year major league contract with the Washington Nationals.

Frandsen received a guaranteed $900,000 major-league deal from the Nationals, plus $300,000 in performance bonuses and a $400,000 awards package.

Frandsen, 31, is a .259 career hitter in 402 games with the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Angels and the Phillies. He hit .234 in ...
