Astros designate Jerome Williams

Houston Astros reliever Jerome Williams was designated for assignment following Monday's 10-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners after allowing two runs in two innings to leave his ERA at 6.04.

In 26 appearances this season, the 32-year-old Williams is 1-4, having given up 7 home runs and 16 walks and striking out 38. 

Williams played in six games for the Nationals in 2007 and didn't make another major league appearance until five years later, when he signed with the Los Angeles Angels.
