Royals' May ends five-year win drought

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- A nearly five-year drought is over for Darrell May.

The 28-year-old lefthander earned his first major league win since August 31, 1997 as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Chicago White Sox, 4-3, to salvage a split of the four-game series.

May (1-3), who spent the previous four seasons in Japan, allowed one run and four hits over five innings with five walks and two strikeouts. He gave up a solo homer to Aaron Rowand in the second.
