When Roger Clemens allowed eight runs to the Red Sox on Memorial Day in his first attempt to win his 300th game, it was the most runs allowed by a pitcher trying for his 300th win since Phil Niekro (the only other man to win his 300th as a Yankee) gave up eight to the Tigers on Sept. 24, 1985.
