Team doctor to examine third baseman's sore shoulder

MIAMI -- Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen flew back to St. Louis on Wednesday to have his sore shoulder examined, but he is expected to rejoin the team soon.

Rolen received a cortisone injection for inflammation and tightness in his left shoulder.

"I think he's fatigued," manager Tony La Russa said. "I know he's been taking a lot of batting practice lately. Sometimes you can overwork it."
