Carney Lansford to replace Don Baylor

DENVER -- Don Baylor is being replaced as the Colorado Rockies hitting coach by former major league infielder Carney Lansford.

Baylor has been offered a special assistant role in the organization, and the club said he is considering that offer. Baylor, 61, was the Rockies hitting coach for the last two seasons, his second stint in Denver after serving as the club's first manager from 1993-98.
