Source: Bill Bordley to lead MLB security

Major League Baseball will hire Bill Bordley, formerly of the Secret Service, as its new chief of security, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Bordley, 53, was once a top pitching prospect for USC under legendary coach Rod Dedeaux. He pitched in eight games for the San Francisco Giants in 1980, before his career was curtailed by arm trouble and he went to work for the Secret Service.

Bordley's official title will be Vice President, Security and Facility Management.
