MLB delays start of free agency
NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball and the players union have agreed to delay the start of free agency by one day as part of the collective bargaining process.
The commissioner's office and the Major League Baseball Players Association agreed to the 24-hour delay on Friday night during Game 7 of the World Series. The free agency period was scheduled to begin a day after the World Series ended.
Players will now be able to begin filing for free agency at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.
