Albert Pujols' $240 million deal stole headlines, but left-hander has been better buy

This is not how the season was supposed to begin for the Los Angeles Angels. As Mike Scioscia's club takes the field for its 33rd game, it will stare at a Texas Rangers team that has established a seven-game lead over L.A. in the AL West. Despite their lavish offseason spending, the Angels stand just 14-18, and the struggles of star free-agent signee Albert Pujols are the primary reason. Pujols is embroiled in the longest slump of his career, and by Wins Above Replacement, only Brennan Boesch has been less productive this season.
