Andrew Carignan could need surgery
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland Athletics reliever Andrew Carignan said Wednesday night he needs elbow ligament replacement surgery and is in the process of deciding which doctor will do it.
Manager Bob Melvin had hinted earlier in the day that Tommy John surgery was likely for Cardigan after the right-hander left Tuesday's game against Texas in the eighth inning with soreness.
