ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Oakland's Jason Giambi and Jeremy Giambi on
Monday became the 10th set of brothers in major league history to
homer in the same game.
Jason hit a two-run homer, his major league-leading 14th, in the
second inning against the Angels, and Jeremy hit a three-run shot
in the fourth, his second of the season.
Both homers came off Ramon Ortiz. Jason's sailed 430 feet into
the right-field seats, and Jeremy's liner cleared the fence in
right-center and was estimated at 405 feet.
Vladimir Guerrero and Wilton Guerrero were the previous brothers to homer in the same game, doing it last Oct. 2 for Montreal.
There was no definitive word from baseball on how many pairs of
brothers had accomplished the feat.
Among the other duos to do it were Hank and
Tommie Aaron, Paul and Lloyd Waner, Billy and Tony Conigliaro,
Graig and Jim Nettles, Cal Ripken and Billy Ripken, Rick and Wes Farrell,
Al and Tony Cuccinello, Matty and Jesus Alou, and Aaron Boone and Bret
Boone. | |
