Blue Jays trade Adams to Red Sox

Toronto Blue Jays: The Blue Jays traded right-hander Terry Adams to the Boston Red Sox on Saturday for a minor leaguer.

Adams went 4-4 with a 3.98 ERA in 42 games. He lost his job as
Toronto's setup man earlier this season.

The 31-year-old Adams signed a one-year, $1.7 million contract
with Toronto in the offseason after playing for Philadelphia in

The Red Sox are Adams' fifth team.

The Blue Jays acquired third baseman John Hattig, who hit .298
with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs in 74 games with Double-A Portland.

Anaheim Angels: The Angels placed outfielder Jeff DaVanon
on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of back spasms.

It's just one more injury to an Angels team that has been
plagued by aches and pains all season long.

In 72 games this year, DaVanon is batting .286 with five homers,
24 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.

Infielder Alfredo Amezaga was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake
to take DaVanon's spot on the roster.

In 27 games with the Angels earlier this year, Amezaga batted
.157 with three RBIs and three stolen bases.
