Phillies' Rollins runs hit streak to 33 games

PHILADELPHIA -- Jimmy Rollins extended his
Philadelphia Phillies' record hitting streak to 33 games with a leadoff infield
single against the New York Mets on Wednesday night.

Rollins hit a grounder off Steve Trachsel that seemed to get
stuck in the glove of hard-charging shortstop Jose Reyes. Reyes did
not attempt a throw and the speedy Rollins got a standing ovation.

Rollins scored on Bobby Abreu's sacrifice fly, his 100th RBI of
the season.

Rollins singled in the seventh inning Tuesday night to set the
team record, breaking a mark he held with Ed Delahanty, who hit in
31 in a row in 1899. His streak is the longest in the majors since
Florida's Luis Castillo hit in 35 straight in 2002.

Rollins was hitting .386 (56-for-145) during the streak.
