No arbitration for Cubs, Sox free agents

The Chicago White Sox will decline to offer arbitration to any of their free agents on Tuesday as the Dec. 1 deadline passes at midnight Tuesday.

Jermaine Dye, Scott Podsednik and Octavio Dotel are the three Sox free agents who were not offered arbitration.

This does not preclude the Sox from signing any of the three. It simply does not allow the Sox to receive compensation in the form of draft picks if any of the three sign elsewhere.

The Cubs have three major free agents in Rich Harden, Kevin Gregg and Reed Johnson. Although it hasn't been stated by the Cubs, the assumption is they will not offer arbitration to any of three.
