Braves' Jones sits out vs. Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- Chipper Jones was scratched from the Atlanta Braves' lineup for their game against the Minnesota Twins when his finger injury flared up.

Jones was set to bat third Saturday night, but Brooks Conrad was inserted into the second spot in the lineup about a half-hour before gametime. Right fielder Jason Heyward moved from second to third in the order.

Jones is batting just .228 this season with three homers and 22 RBIs. He went 0 for 4 and struck out twice in Friday's game. The 38-year-old Jones missed five games last week with inflammation in his right ring finger.

The Braves didn't give a reason for the late switch at first, but manager Bobby Cox said after the game Jones was having trouble with the finger again. His status is day to day.
