Bryce Harper to get spring game ABs

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Washington Nationals plan to let teenage prospect Bryce Harper play in big league exhibition games at spring training.

Nationals manager Jim Riggleman says the 18-year-old Harper will get some at-bats against major leaguers.

Harper was the No. 1 pick in last summer's draft. He excelled in the Arizona Fall League, batting .343 with six extra-base hits in nine games.

Riggleman said Monday that Harper will be in major league camp this spring. If he's not getting to hit enough, then the Nationals will send him down to the minor league camp.

Harper is expected to start next season in Class A ball.
