The Royals acquired his services by selling high on Melky Cabrera. Sanchez is your classic \"one skill away\" hurler, that skill being reducing his free passes. For his career, the southpaw has whiffed an outstanding 9.4 per nine innings, but he has issued more than half as many free passes, 4.8 per nine. Last year, Sanchez's 9.1 K/9 was lower than his career average while his BB/9 soared to 5.9, so one could argue that Kansas City bought low. At 29 years old, there is still time for Sanchez to reduce his walks, and it is definitely worth the cost of a journeyman outfielder coming off a career year to find out. Any time a pitcher fans more than a batter an inning he is worthy of fantasy attention, but be wary of the move to the league with the designated hitter and to a slightly less friendly home park.
