No one in baseball attempted a steal more frequently in 2011; he ran on 54.9 percent of his opportunities (those as judged by Baseball-Reference.com). The problem, however, is that Davis has regressed as a hitter over the years, shaping up as more of a platoon man versus left-handers who must settle for pinch-running duty the rest of the time. He walked only 4.4 percent of the time last season, his low on-base percentage capping his steals potential, and he managed but .221/.239/.313 triple-slash rates versus right-handers.
