Humber, With 4 Wild Pitches, Now 0-6... Just Like Stewart, J.r. And The Express
From Elias: Philip Humber, who threw a perfect game last April, finished this April 0-6 in six starts after being tagged with a loss at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night in a game in which he threw four wild pitches. Only one other pitcher in major-league history suffered six losses in April, and only two other pitchers in Astros history have endured at least four wild pitches in one game. But get a load of these names: The guy with the six April losses was Dave Stewart, who still had four 20-win seasons in his future when he went 0-6 for the Rangers in 1984; and the Astros pitchers with four wild ones in a game were none other than J. R. Richard (six in a game in 1979) and Nolan Ryan (four in 1982).

What A Difference 52 Weeks Make
From Elias: Starting for the White Sox at Seattle on the third Saturday in April 2012, Philip Humber threw a perfect game. Starting for the Astros against the Indians on the third Saturday in April 2013, Humber earned just one out while allowing eight runs on eight hits and a walk. Humber became the second starting pitcher within a six-hour span to give up at least eight runs while failing to complete the first inning; Detroit's Rick Porcello had allowed nine runs while getting two outs against the Angels. It was the first day in major-league history on which more than one major-league starter allowed eight-or-more runs while failing to complete the first inning. The Indians scored eight in the first and six in the second. In only four other games in major-league history did a team score at least eight in the first and at least six in the second; the last team to do it was the Phillies against the Mets in 1985 (nine in the first, seven in the second). And the only previous time that it happened in the American League, it was also done by the Indians, against the Yankees in 1928 (eight in the first, nine in the second).

MLB - Astros Horrible Pitching
Philip Humber went 1/3 IP while allowing 7 hits and 8 earned runs. This season, the Astros have 3 games in which their starting pitcher allowed 6+ ER in fewer than 1 IP. They are just the 3rd team in the Modern Era to have 3 such games in a single season. Please note: all three Astros' games came in April.

Humber Can't Buy A Win
Philip Humber lost his third straight start this season after he allowed only two runs in seven innings in the Astros' 4-1 loss to the Angels. Humber lowered his ERA to 2.89, which is the second-lowest for a Houston pitcher who was 0-3 through his first three starts of a season. Ken Johnson was 0-3 with a 2.86 ERA through his first three starts in 1962, the inaugural season for the Houston Colt .45s.
