Escobar parlays an excellent contact rate and good plate discipline into a consistently high average, so his .290 mark last season did not disappoint. His HR/FB was the same as in the past, but he hit more grounders, tempering his homer total just a little. The reason Escobar is a bit down in the rankings despite possessing solid on-base skills with a little pop is because he has missed at least 20 games in each of his four full MLB seasons, averaging just 136 games during that span. If you plan accordingly and have some insurance for Escobar's likely stint or two on the disabled list, he is a good source of batting average support with some power sprinkled in.","seasonId":2012,"date":"Wed Feb 15"},"playerRater30DAY":1.4,"playerRater15DAY":0.6,"positionRank":17}
