That alone puts him in the discussion for the top honor among fantasy starting pitchers, but there are hints at slight decline, and we imagine they could be tied to his taxing delivery or the 1,028 career innings he has thrown through age 27. Lincecum's strikeout rate has dropped in each of the past three seasons; his 9.12 K's-per-nine ratio last season was actually a professional low. He also has registered quality starts only 68.1 percent of the time the past two seasons, down from 80.0 percent from 2008-09. And his Giants afforded him 3.82 runs per support per nine when he was on the mound last year, dead last out of 94 ERA qualifiers, their offense isn't vastly improved and therefore that'll have an adverse impact upon his win total (if your league counts them).
