Morrow Becoming More Efficient
From Elias: Brandon Morrow struck out eight in a 107-pitch, three-hit shutout over the Mets at Toronto. It was the second time this season Morrow needed fewer than 110 pitches while throwing nine innings and striking out at least eight batters. He needed 102 pitches while also allowing zero runs and striking out eight Angels on May 3. All other MLB pitchers have combined for only five such games this season. In 2011, Morrow averaged 156.2 pitches per-nine innings, the second-highest rate among ERA qualifiers (Ryan Dempster 156.4). In 2012, Morrow has cut that number down to 135.0.

Morrow Rocketing To Stardom
From Elias: Brandon Morrow defeated the Athletics on Wednesday, allowing one run in six innings, while striking out 10 batters. Morrow is 4-0 over his last four starts, with two total runs allowed and 30 strikeouts. The only other pitcher in Blue Jays history who won four consecutive starts, while permitting two-or-fewer runs and recording 30-or-more strikeouts over that span was Roger Clemens. Clemens did that twice for Toronto, in 1997 and 1998, and he won the Cy Young award in each of those seasons.
