Bucs Win Another Close One At Home
From Elias: Travis Snider's walk-off RBI single in the 11th inning gave the Pirates a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over the Reds. Pittsburgh has won its last seven home games that were decided by a one-run margin (since May 14). That matches the Bucs' longest such streak over the last 36 seasons. They haven't had a longer home winning streak in one-run games since they won 13 in a row at Three Rivers Stadium in 1977 (June 24-August 12).

Back-to-back First-pitch Extra-base Hits Lead Pirates
From Elias: Pedro Alvarez's first-pitch, two-run double tied the game at three, and Travis Snider's RBI double on the next pitch drove in the Alvarez as winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning of the Pirates' 5-3 home win over the Tigers. The last time teammates hit back-to-back, first-pitch extra-base hits to plate the tying and winning runs in the seventh inning or later was on Aug. 22, 2004, when Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz hit consecutive first-pitch home runs, turning a one-run deficit into a 6-5 Red Sox lead against the White Sox in Chicago.

Clutch Hit For Snider
From Elias: Travis Snider's two-run single with the bases loaded in the first inning helped the Pirates defeat the Diamondbacks, 5-3. Snider, prior to that trip to the plate, had been hitless in his last 10 at-bats with the bases full, a drought that began in May 2010.
