Matt Wieters stroked an opposite-field double in the eighth inning to drive in Adam Jones with the winning run in the Orioles' 4-3 victory over the Royals. It was the fifth time in his career that Wieters went the other way to deliver a game-winning RBI in Late-Inning Pressure Situations -- three batting left-handed and two right-handed.

Wieters Hits A Walkoff Grand Slam For The Orioles

Matt Wieters homered with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Orioles a 10-6 win over the Rays. It was the first game-ending grand slam in the major leagues since May 13 last year when there were two: by the Reds' Joey Votto and the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton. Wieters is the third player to hit a walkoff grand slam at Camden Yards, which opened in 1992. The others were Chris Hoiles (May 17, 1996) and Harold Baines (May 4, 1999).

Wieters, now in his fifth major-league season, possesses career numbers against Joe Maddon's team that would be the envy of anyone, batting .341 with 12 homers and 40 RBIs in 60 games. Since the start of the 2009 season, no other player has produced against Tampa Bay the across-the-board numbers in the Triple Crown categories generated by Wieters.
