A 28-year-old who signed a minor league free-agent contract with the Orioles, his third professional organization, the right-hander rode a 1.61 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in 14 appearances (six starts) for Triple-A Norfolk into an opportunity in the big club's wide-open rotation. By the All-Star break, he was a mainstay in the Orioles' starting five -- and he'll presumably kick off 2013 as the same -- as he had nine quality starts, a 3.53 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 14 second-half turns. Gonzalez's stuff isn't elite, he affords too much hard contact to take any major steps forward, and as a pitcher in perhaps the game's most hitting-rich division, he's a stronger bet to regress than progress in 2013. This is a pitcher with AL-only potential, and more so from the matchups angle, and a dangerous one to overrate in mixed formats.","seasonId":2013,"date":"Thu Feb 21"},"playerRater30DAY":-0.5,"playerRater15DAY":0,"positionRank":105}
