That shift to defense might mean the necessary team patience with Bourjos to drive his plate appearance total much closer to 2011's 552 than 2012's 195, and with it he might find a way to approach double-digit homers with as many as 20 steals. Bourjos isn't a patient enough hitter nor does he make consistent enough contact to be much more than that, and it could lead to him making many early exits for pinch hitters or sitting against tough righties.
