Cain Streak Ends, But He Helps Royals Sweep Two In Boston
From Elias: Lorenzo Cain entered Sunday's first game at Boston with hits in each of his last seven plate appearances, the longest such streak for any major-leaguer this season and the longest for a Royals player since Eric Hosmer in 2011. Cain's streak of consecutive hits ended with a first-inning ground out, but the next time he stepped to the plate (in the fourth inning) he tied the game with a RBI-double and then scored on a two-run single by Salvador Perez that closed the scoring in the Royals' 4-2 win. After going 1-for-3 in Sunday's opener, Cain had a .632 batting average (12-for-19) over his last five games to establish a career-high for hits over a five-game span. Cain went 0-for-3 in the nightcap, but he drove in the deciding run with a bases-loaded walk in the tenth inning that gave the Royals a 5-4 win. Cain has RBIs in five of his nine career plate appearances with the bags full, including all three of his bases-loaded plate appearances this season (with a sac-fly, a single and a walk), but he had never had an RBI-walk until Sunday night.

Crasnick: Assessing Royals' haul for Zack Greinke
Trades involving superstars don't always pay dividends. But with Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar emerging, the Royals have no reason to regret the Zack Greinke deal.

Six players who wowed me this spring

Spring training performances and statistics can be very misleading. Often major league hitters are facing minor league pitchers, or sometimes major league pitchers are simply working on refining a certain pitch and get hammered.
