He was expected to work at first base and DH to regain some of his lost potential at the plate, but the recent development certainly sets back his progress on that front. The injury, which requires surgery next week, should keep him out of commission through June, though a return in mid-July seems like the most logical scenario.","date":"Sat Jun 1"},"fullName":"Jesus Montero","seasonOutlook":{"outlook":"Looking at the adjustments the Mariners have made to the outfield dimensions at Safeco Field for 2013, you'd think they crafted them entirely to Montero's strengths. He's a big-time, up-and-coming home run source whose power plays best to left-center field, so there's plenty reason to believe he'll enjoy a better year at Safeco than his .227/.268/.337 split there last season. Seeing more time behind the plate could help; oddly enough, he had .310/.343/.498 rates and 10 home runs in 230 plate appearances at that position, compared to .227/.266/.310 and five HRs in 320 plate appearances at designated hitter. Expect more growth from him in 2013, although perhaps not more at-bats, as he'll need additional rest as a regular catcher and the team already has a bevy of DH candidates. Montero has an outstanding chance at having a season that would place him among the top 10 fantasy catchers, as well as the requisite games to qualify at the position for 2014, too (a plus for his keeper-league owners).","seasonId":2013,"date":"Wed Feb 20"},"playerRater30DAY":-3.9,"positionRank":53}
