Arencibia's Two-strike Homer Completes Toronto's Seven-run Comeback
From Elias: The Blue Jays had whittled the Rays' 7-0 lead at the end of three innings down to 7-6, but they were one strike away from a one-run loss when J.P. Arencibia put Toronto ahead to stay with a two-run homer against Fernando Rodney in the top of the ninth inning. Arencibia has hit nine home runs this season and six of them have come with two strikes in the count. The only major-leaguer with more two-strike homers this year than Arencibia is the Braves' Justin Upton (7). Only five of Arencibia's 18 home runs last season were hit when he had two strikes in the count.

Cameron: Why the Blue Jays have struggled

Dave Cameron writes that the Blue Jays -- the preseason favorites to win the AL East -- have struggled because of their inability to score runs. Beyond poor strikeout rates and batting averages, Toronto's offensive woes can be attributed to bad luck.

Arencibia Is The First Since Berra
From Elias: J.P Arencibia hit his seventh home run of the season as the Blue Jays beat the Yankees on Sunday, and all of his homers have been hit in games that he's caught at Rogers Centre. Arencibia is the first catcher to hit as many as seven home runs over his club's first 13 home games of a season since Yogi Berra went deep eight times during New York's first 13 games at Yankee Stadium in 1956.

J. P. Is In Last Place No Longer
From Elias: J. P. Arencibia connected for a home run and a double to help the Blue Jays to a 5-0 decision over the Red Sox, and in the process, he escaped the distinction of owning the lowest batting average against the Red Sox among active major-leaguers (minimum: 100 at-bats). Arencibia came into Saturday's game at .135, but by game's end he had lifted his mark to .148, surpassing the .139 career-against-the-Red Sox batting average of Kelly Johnson. Arencibia now stands 110th on that list, with Johnson in 111th (and last) place.
