Arencibia","seasonOutlook":{"outlook":"Although Arencibia clubbed 23 home runs with 78 RBIs as a rookie in 2011, the Blue Jays seemingly spent the 2012 season and subsequent winter trying desperately to find themselves a better catcher. From Jeff Mathis to Travis d'Arnaud to John Buck, the team always seemed to have someone threatening Arencibia's at-bats, perhaps because Arencibia isn't much of a defender and his big swing lends itself to frequent cold spells. But as the winter concluded, the Blue Jays had cleaned out his competition, with light-hitting ex-Met Josh Thole the last alternative standing, finally cementing Arencibia as the team's catcher of the future. That's a good thing, because all-or-nothing sluggers such as this often need extended patience to really make it (not that fantasy owners should instantly follow suit). The winter developments were a plus from a playing-time perspective, but Arencibia is still going to be a batting-average drain in rotisserie leagues, and an awful choice in on-base and points-based leagues. He'll effectively be a No. 2 mixed-league or No. 1 AL-only catcher on the hopes he can hit 25 homers and back into as many as 90 RBIs thanks to a strong supporting cast.","seasonId":2013,"date":"Wed Feb 20"},"playerRater30DAY":-0.8,"playerRater15DAY":-3,"positionRank":9}
