Unfortunately, that counts little in fantasy leagues, not to mention that the team added another defensive whiz in Michael Bourn, threatening Stubbs' playing time. For our purposes, Stubbs is attractive for his 17-homer, 33-steal three-year average (2010-12) but is equally unattractive because of his ghastly .238 batting average during that time. Stubbs has actually regressed as a hitter since his big league career started, the gaping holes in his swing -- most of those on breaking pitches as well as all offerings low and outside -- too easy for pitchers to exploit. One would think a prime-year hitter could be expected to do more, but Stubbs' arrow is trending downward, and his .221/.293/.337 career rates away from Great American Ball Park, coupled with his having to learn a new league's set of pitchers, are worries.
