He is hitting a respectable .266 with 11 RBI. His switch-hitting capability makes him a decent matchup against right-handed pitching but he has also seen nine starts this season against lefties. He still will likely start every few days to spell Molina in the near future.","date":"Mon Jun 3"},"fullName":"Jose Lobaton","seasonOutlook":{"outlook":"Lobaton's strength is a good knowledge of the strike zone -- he had an 11.8 percent walk rate during his minor league career (11.2 in Triple-A alone) and had a 12.2 percent rate for the Rays last year -- but beyond that he offers little to either a real or fantasy team. He lacks power and is average-to-below defensively; defensively sound Jose Molina, his competition for at-bats, isn't much less with the stick. Lobaton is one of four catchers in the hunt to be a part of the Rays' position rotation, but even if he scores a spot, he's a so-so option even as an AL-only No. 2 catcher.","seasonId":2013,"date":"Wed Feb 20"},"playerRater30DAY":0.7,"playerRater15DAY":1.4,"positionRank":20}

Catchers Set Mark For Home Runs In April
From Elias: Jose Lobaton homered in the third inning of the Rays' 8-3 win over the White Sox on Sunday. Lobaton was among five catchers who homered on Sunday, including Russell Martin of the Pirates who hit a pair. That brought to 99 the total number of home runs by catchers this month, the most in any April in MLB history, led by J.P. Arencibia and John Buck with eight each. The previous high was 96 in April 1996, when Todd Hundley (8) and Dan Wilson (7) topped the list.
