Alvarez also has trouble with lefties; he has .211/.291/.329 career rates against them. With all those flaws, it's understandable if fantasy owners -- even those in NL-only leagues -- are timid, but in his defense, he's still 25 years old, with plenty of time to adjust, and should get a long look for the starting third-base role again this spring.
