Hello, Tampa, My Name Is Brandon And I Hit Home Runs
From Elias: Brandon Allen's first at-bat for Tampa Bay is one neither he nor Thursday's fans at Tropicana Field are likely to forget. Allen, who was acquired from the A's via waivers last week, hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rays a 4-3 win over the Angels. Allen was the first player to hit a walk-off homer in his first at-bat for a team since Jamie Quirk did it for the Indians in 1984. (That was not only Quirk's first at-bat for Cleveland, it was his only AB in the only game he ever played for the team.)
