Orioles pitcher Jason Hammel was thrown out of Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers after allowing three straight homers and then hitting Matt Tuiasosopo in the helmet with a pitch.

The Tigers hit 4 HR in the 4th inning against the Orioles (Martinez, Peralta and Avila back-to-back-to-back and Cabrera grand slam). It's the first time the Tigers have at least 4 HR in a single inning since September 10, 1986 against the Brewers (Chet Lemon, Mike Heath, Kirk Gibson and Darnell Coles).

Victor Martinez, Jhonny Peralta and Alex Avila hit back-to-back-to-back HR in the 4th inning against the Orioles. It's the first time the Tigers have hit 3 consecutive HR since June 24, 2001 against the Twins (Robert Fick, Juan Encarnacion and Shane Halter).

Avila Available With Late-inning Heroics

With the Tigers trailing 3-2 in the ninth inning, Alex Avila hit a go-ahead two-run homer off Astros' closer Jose Veras, propelling Detroit to a 4-3 victory in Houston. It's the third time Avila has hit a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning or later; Avila also did so in August 2010 and April 2012. In the last six seasons (2008-2013), the only other Tigers catcher to give his team the lead with a long ball in the ninth inning or later is Gerald Laird, who homered in the 13th inning on September 2, 2010 in Minnesota.
