Improved command, particularly of his fastball, was behind it: 51.5 percent of his pitches were in the strike zone, 18th best in the majors, and his walk rate on fastballs dipped more than three percent, from 13.6 to 10.4, in 2011. Unfortunately, despite Holland's breakthrough he's not even guaranteed a rotation spot, as the Rangers have a surplus of starters. On skills, he shouldn't have much trouble landing one, and perhaps his uncertain role will make him a bargain candidate in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.
