Bard was one of the game's better setup men the past three years, his 79 holds third most during that span, and he did it thanks to a fastball that routinely clocked in the high 90s. As a reliever, he'd be one of the most attractive sources of holds, ratio-helping in AL-only and deep mixed and might even be next in line to close if Andrew Bailey gets hurt. But if Bard sticks as a starter, this will be the question: If he has to dial his fastball down a few ticks, leaning more on his secondary pitches, will Bard be as successful working longer outings?
