Hanson's taxing delivery is a concern, and his pattern of diminishing fastball velocity coupled with increasing reliance upon his slider puts him at greater injury risk than fantasy owners might realize. To those ends, his average fastball was clocked at 92.6 mph in 2010, but only 89.6 mph in 2012, and he threw his slider a career-high 29 percent of the time last season. Why do you think the asking price for Hanson in trade, then, was only Jordan Walden? The Angels took a chance on the youngster in the hopes they can either squeeze another productive year out of him or that he'll be fortunate enough to avoid injuries going forward.
