Norris Is Getting No Support From The Astros
From Elias: Bud Norris took the loss despite allowing only three runs over seven innings in the Astros' 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Orioles on Thursday afternoon. It marked the ninth consecutive time the Astros scored three or fewer runs in a game started by Norris. That is Houston's longest streak of consecutive games with three or fewer runs scored in a particular pitcher's starts since the team did that in 11 straight starts by Doug Drabek in 1993.

Szymborski: Houston's quest to catch '62 Mets

The Astros have a decent shot of catching the 1962 Mets for worst record ever, writes Dan Szymborski. That's the bad news. The good news is that being historically bad for one season doesn't make the rebuilding process take longer.

MLB - Astros pitching note
Bud Norris allowed 6 earned runs while getting just two outs in Wednesday's start against Oakland. That's on the heels of Erik Bedard's outing Monday (6 ER, 1 out). It is just the third time in the Live-Ball Era that a team has had two such starts (less than 1 IP, 6+ ER allowed) in the same series. The Blue Jays did it against Milwaukee on April 9 and 11, 1982 (Mark Bomback and Jim Clancy respectively). And in 1931, the Cardinals' Burleigh Grimes did it in back-to-back starts (June 26 and 28) against Brooklyn.
