Axford's Struggles Continue

From Elias: John Axford allowed three runs in the eighth inning and suffered the loss as the Cubs rallied for a 6-3 win over the Brewers. Axford, who ranked sixth in the National League with 35 saves last season, is the first pitcher since 2006 to be charged with at least one earned run in each of his first four games coming off a season with at least 30 saves. The last pitcher to do so was Miguel Batista of the Diamondbacks.

Axford loses job as Brewers' closer for now

John Axford has been replaced in the closer role by the Milwaukee Brewers until he can figure out his early-season problems by Jim Henderson, who converted his first save opportunity Monday against the Chicago Cubs.
