From Elias: Red Sox SS Jose Iglesias went 3-for-5 in today's game. All were singles. BUT... they were all infield singles. Iglesias beat out balls to short and third, and also laid down a bunt single that was fielded by the first baseman. According to Elias, he is the first player in 14 years to have three infield hits on Opening Day. Alex Gonzalez of the Blue Jays did so in Minnesota on April 6, 1999, after Dmitri Young of the Reds had pulled it off the day before against San Francisco.
