A Shocker In Philadelphia
From Elias: Aroldis Chapman allowed back-to-back home runs for the first time in his career when Erik Kratz hit a game-tying solo shot with one out in the ninth inning and Freddy Galvis followed that with a walk-off round-tripper that gave the Phillies a 3-2 win over the Reds. It was the second game in the majors this season that was won in walk-off fashion with back-to-back home runs, and the Reds were the victors in the other game of that kind. (Devin Mesoraco and Shin-Soo Choo went belly-to-belly off Craig Kimbrel to cap a Cincinnati win on May 7.) There were only two major-league games over the past seven seasons (2006-2012) that ended with back-to-back home runs. The Phillies hadn't hit back-to-back home runs capped by a walk-off shot since they did it against the Cardinals at Baker Bowl on September 15, 1922. Butch Henline's solo shot, his third home run of the game, tied the score at 9-9 in the bottom of the ninth and Cliff Lee (no, not the pitcher) followed Henline with a game-ending homer.
