Another Loss For Cubs, Another Walk-off Loss For Dolis
From Elias: The old walk-off hit-by-pitch reared its head for the second time this major-league season when the Cubs' Rafael Dolis nailed the Pirates' Matt Hague with the bases full in the last of the ninth on Saturday night, forcing in the winning run. Last month, Kansas City's Jonathan Broxton hit Oakland's Jonny Gomes for a 12th-inning walk-off HBP. It was the Cubs' third walk-off loss this month in which Dolis threw the game's final pitch; he gave up a game-ending sacrifice fly to Scott Rolen on May 3 and a game-ending single to Yadier Molina on May 15. The last Cubs pitcher to have three such games in a month was Terry Adams in June 1997 - and Rolen also had a game-winning RBI against him, the first walk-off hit of Rolen's career. The last Cubs' pitcher to end a game by hitting a batter to force in the winning run was Carlos Marmol, who hit Juan Pierre, then with the Dodgers, on May 27, 2007.
