In his last start, Gomez allowed just one unearned run in seven innings against the Twins, but two starts ago he was lit-up by the White Sox for eight earned runs. Gomez is the first Cleveland pitcher to post a zero ERA in two straight starts immediately following an eight-ER outing since Gaylord Perry in August 1973. The future Hall-of-Famer made up for allowing eight earned runs in a start at Kansas City by posting back-to-back shutouts over the Twins and White Sox, the second of which required 12 innings.
