Duda's bat has the potential to rate him an above-average big league corner outfielder, but his glove was so miserable last season -- he was charged with minus-18 defensive runs saved as an outfielder, and remember, you want positive numbers in that department -- that the Mets couldn't afford to stick with him after he struggled through a 30-game, .200-hitting, two-homer funk in the middle of last year, demoting him to Triple-A Buffalo. Duda did little there or following an August call-up to recapture the NL-only sleeper buzz he possessed in the preseason, but at least he's likely to get another extended look with the Mets, who sport arguably the weakest projected starting outfield in baseball entering 2013.
