Remember, every pitcher endures adjustments, and Reed's is somewhat obvious: He's too fine with his pitches, leaving a whopping 59 percent of his total offerings in the strike zone, the highest rate among qualified relievers in 2012. He'll need to be more deceptive in his second full season in order to take the next step, but we need to remember that he averaged 12.88 strikeouts per nine innings and 7.76 K's per walk during his minor league career, meaning not only should he be capable, his ceiling might be that of a top-five closer once he is.
