Control is perhaps the most important: Fujikawa averaged 12.42 strikeouts per nine innings and 5.43 K's per walk during his six-year career in Japan, averaging 34 saves per year, while Marmol (in his seven-year major league career) has averaged 11.73 K's per nine and 1.94 K's per walk, while averaging 16 saves. The team's intent at the onset of spring training was to have Marmol closing to begin the season, but Marmol's past fantasy owners would be quick to remind you of his rough spots, especially the times that the Cubs demoted him from the closer role accordingly. These are pitchers who warrant handcuff consideration in larger mixed leagues, and there aren't many more attractive in-season save candidates than Fujikawa.
